The television season has returned from holiday hiatus so everyone is thrilled. On any given night throughout the week, you can walk down the runs and 99% of everyone’s TVs are on the same channel. Last night was Revenge. I do not know a single person here who does not love that show and most can match all the character names with their associated real actor/actress names. I’m a guilty party as well. It is in my top 5 shows that are ‘must watch’.

Here is a breakdown of the week in primetime television that everyone watches religiously. Some may surprise you…

·       Monday              The Bachelor (or Bachelorette) and Major Crimes

·       Tuesday              The New Girl, The New Normal, and Private Practice

·       Wednesday       Modern Family, Suburgatory and Nashville

·       Thursday            Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal

·       Friday                  Fringe, Grimm and Dateline NBC

·       Saturday             Cops, Jail and a movie

·       Sunday               Happy Endings, Revenge and The Good Wife

Consider that this audience is represented by convicts who are covered in tattoos, and they are glued to their TV sets for these shows. It's pretty comical.

Friends, Family & Relatives; the new normal

I was watching an episode of ‘The New Normal’ on TV the other night and there was a line that really resonated with me:

“You can choose the people you consider your family. You cannot choose your relatives.”

I must have thought about that for hours. For me, it is true. The people in my life that I love most, like Jan, Deb W., Deb T., Helen, Bill and Joe; they are not just my friends, they are my family. When put in comparison, they are there more than any of my relatives. They do more, know more, love more and judge less… The list goes on and on.

Any way, it was all very curious to me. Food for thought I guess.
